The Rohingya crisis at a crossroads: the ICJ, international law and the Myanmar election

Join Lead Counsel representing The Gambia in the ICJ genocide case against Myanmar, Arsalan Suleman, and member of the United Nations Human Rights Council’s Independent International Fact Finding Mission on Myanmar, Christpoher Sidoti, as they discuss the current state of the Rohingya crisis.

 

The Refugee Council of Australia's Advocacy Coordinator, Dr Graham Thom will moderate a panel session following the keynote speakers, where you will hear from expert speakers, including:

  • Gareth Evans, former Australian Foreign Minister 

  • Philip Ruddock, former Australian Minister for Immigration, Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs, and former Australian Attorney-General  

  • Razia Sultana, a prominent Rohingya feminist activist and founder of Rohingya Women Welfare Society 

  • Regina Palouse, US-based human rights lawyer 

  • Dr Hla Myint, President of Rohingya Intellectual Group Australia 

The panel discussion will be followed by a short Q&A session.
